Commerical Fishing Vessels, FindAGrave and Noah Movie

Yesterday I went to the theater to see Noah. Loved it! I wouldn't say it was very bibical based, lot of scifi. I'll rate it 5 stars.

Today Kaiya and I had to go back to the bloody RMV. At least this time I was given a "Go Past Go Pass" and was called up in 15 minutes and finally registered my new to me Chrysler Town and Country Caravan. It only took 3 visits to register the camper and van. The RMV couldn't give me all the paperwork I needed in one visit, grrrr.
Crystal Ice House loading up the Diane Marie from New Bedford, Massachusetts, with ice to keep the fish fresh. They are heading out for about 7 days. Government has only given them 4 fishing trips per year now. America ships out most of our seafood, mainly to China so we must eat a lot if imported. To me this does not make sense. The government states the ocean is running out of fish but that is not true. Also the boats are not allowed to keep everything they catch so a lot of dead critters are tossed back into the sea. The government tells you what you can catch, when and how much per year. So many restrictions and it is getting worse yearly. New Bedford is still the largest fishing fleet in the world even though they have lost half of their boats due to government buy back deals about 20 years ago.

Aft the RMV we walked to the Historical New Bedford Waterfront and chatted with many fisherman, some heading out, some prepping to head out. The weather was perfect, low 60F, sunny, almost no breeze. I even met up with a great guy, Joe Swift, the owner of Crystal Ice House. They ice up the boats and people can buy bags or blocks of ice, some fill up the back of their pick-up truck.
The blue buckets are loaded with gurry, small shark heads, red fish, small munk fish and more uckies. The green things are plastic coated cages loaded with gurry to trap the lobsters so they weigh about 50 pounds each. Just imagine having a fish in your yard in the sun and the stench, now you know what the boat smells like. It takes a long time to get this smell out of your clothing and sometimes out of your skin. Lemon juice works the best.

Crane loaded up on a barge. A new wooded pier was built along the left side of the barge. They just finished it today.
I am hoping they are going to attempt to restore the Schooner Ernestina again since they covered it. SCHOONER ERNESTINA, Ex. Effie M.Morrissey, was built in 1894 at the James and Tarr Shipyard for the Gloucester fishing fleet. Under Captain Bob Bartlett she sailed to within 600 miles of the North Pole, and later brought immigrants to the U.S. under the power of sail. Returned to the US in 1982 as a gift from the newly independent Cape Verdean people, she sailed as an educator until 2005.

Then we headed off to my pulmonary appointment only to find out it was last week so now I have to wait two more agonizing weeks for my PFT results. So I stopped at Rufus R Wordell Cemetery in Westport, Massachusetts and photoed the headstones. Looks like someone has already posted them on FindAGrave.com. The cemetery didn't have a name on it so I couldn't check before I spent time there but it was worth it. I photoed every stone.
And finally I get home and loading up the camper with grub, kitchen and bathroom stuff, movies, books and more and still a ton more to do. I had to stop, my lungs ached pretty good. Dang Sarcoidosis!

Today I did get something made up, a unisex trifold wallet

The photo is customizable and can be used on several style wallets.

We hope everyone has a wonderful day/night.

My 50th Birthday, Yard Twister, Womens Sandels

We took yesterday off and rested. My knee is hurting pretty badly from the walking and falling in the mud and crick, I walk bone against bone, every specialist I have seen states I need a full knee replacement but not until I am 65.

Besides the walks and archeological searches I have been getting ready to turn a half a century old, yep, now officially 50 as of today, wow! I don't feel like I am 50, mentally. Although if you have watched the way I am walking for the last 2 days you would see I have a knee issue, gimping everywhere until I got a couple lagers into me tonight.

After searching around the archeological area Sunday I was surprised with yummy take out food, cheesy ziti and a nice Italian salad and topped it off with Carvel ice cream cake, a balloon, cards and gifts. And it all was truly a wonderful surprise.
What a great night I had with my friend and 2 dogs, Iris and Happy Jack.
Happy Jack, aka The Little Bastard, rescued when 4 months old, now a 9 year old Toy Fox Terrier.
Iris, Chesapeake Bay Retriever, rescued when 4 months, will be 9 years old this summer, blind in both eyes now. She can be grumpy due to severe arthritis. She is so jealous of Kaiya so they can't be next to each other.
I am loving this restaurant. The games are fun the employees are fantastic.
Tonight I chose the fish tacos, to die for. Two good size pieces of fish in 2 soft shell tacos with lettuce and tomatoes, I don't know if they added anything else but I added garlic parmesan sauce and tofu, scrumptious. The salsa is not for the light of heart, spicy. I was in heaven. I received chocolate cake with chocolate chips in it with vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce drizzled all over it and they sang to me Happy Birthday, so sweet.

I made a couple of things today. Let me share one with you.

Kaleidoscope Stained Glass Art Womens Sandels. I am loving the colors and going to have to get a pair for myself. I colored the image and think I did a great job.

The weather is starting to warm up and here is a fun idea for kids, party, BBQ's, etc, Yard Twister and so easy to do:

Kaiya has again beaten me to bed so I guess that is my hint. Have a great night and a better tomorrow. We get to drive out of town so I can see my Pulmonary doctor and find out what my PFT (breathing study) results are and what the doctor wishes to do next.

Archaeology Two Day Search

I know, I didn't blog yesterday. It was a hectic day and Kaiya and I, decided to go for a walk and went 2 miles to a cemetery and we sat way in the back where she could safely be off the lead. We stayed for a bit and while heading back we found a way into a construction site where there was an old building, one of many over the years, and now going to be a public park. I'm not overly thrilled with the large amount of trees they have tore down and how many birds are going to be affected the nest along the Acushnet River.

This area had the largest Revolutionary War Battle where the British burned down every building for miles.

I don't know why I haven't thought about snooping around this area earlier for anything a soldier may have left behind, coins, guns, knives, bullets. While walking by it for a second time yesterday a woman was peeking through the fence at the area and I told her I was busting in and she followed. She was wondering if she could find evidence of an Indian Burial Ground since she did find one that butts this property in the past when it was dug up and a community was built on top of it.

The burial ground was located where you see the buildings in Acushnet, Massachusetts.

Yesterday she found an old soda bottle and I found one, a little newer. The company was located in New Bedford, Massachusetts, a city that butts Acushnet. I also found a bottle that use to hold a poison of some type. I haven't had time to research it yet.

Today I didn't find anything but a couple interesting rocks but she found an old barrel and tip of a hand gun with a bullet in it, very rusty, and a horseshoe in the river so she had a great day.

This area was all trees. It will now be a man made pond with mini islands.

A section of an old road. It has been broken up a couple of times since private homes was built on it so it is very hard to follow and at least one home owner can be a bit grumpy.

Many different birds and ducks were having dinner including a pretty egret. I was then sorry I didn't have my other camera.

This is the best section of Acushnet River. The water has more force here. Down lower industries ruined it with highly toxic garbage dumped into it daily and it was brought to the inlet of Buzzard's Bay. They have been digging the inlet for years but I don't know how they will ever get the PCP's out of the ocean's bottom. The mills were fined millions of dollars and most are now closed down.

So this is what Kaiya and I have been doing for 2 days. We are tired, sore and very happy even though I hoped to find a bullet and didn't.

How To Get Static Out Of Clothes While In Dryer and Appalachian Trail Story

Kaiya and I didn't do much for each other today. I was pretty ill this morn and needed to rest most of the day.

We helped our friend and neighbor this evening. He had to go for a brain CT Scan. After the CT we dined out for the first time at Buffalo Wild Wings in Massachusetts. I will give it 5 star rating all day long. All the food was cooked to perfection and they made my food to my specific requests. They had the best onion rings I have tasted in ages. I also had a Nacho Burger and they made it with a black bean burger. It is so hard to find vegetarian foods and when you do they usually toss you an ucky Boca Burger. And instead of fries I chose celery with ranch sauce. My friend ordered the prime rib sandwich with potatoes stuffed in it and he was in heaven. For a side he got baked cubed potatoes and french fries. For dessert I ordered cheesecake and to my surprise it came in round fried balls with chocolate dipping sauce, yummy. And tv's, so many you can not count them with several different sports playing at the same time. The service was the best. I did not find one fault through my 1 1/2 hour meal. They also gave me a couple of carrot sticks for Kaiya who was patiently waiting in the van for me.

Now for another money saving idea that is also better for your health. Many do not realize how dangerous dryer sheets are and they should be illegal.

Make a nice ball out of aluminum foil and toss it in the dryer. The ball lasts for 3 to 4 months. I have read several reviews, nothing negative. Some people have been doing this for 2 years now. Also the aluminum will hold some heat and cut down the dryer time. This idea was shared by CanadianFreeStuff.com.

I was able to make a couple of new products for my shop today. One of the lovely pieces are these amazing  Kaleidoscope of Stars Abstract Art Minx Nails.

You can find them here:

On April 1st, 2013 I was hunkered down at the mountain base in Dalton, Massachusetts on the Appalachian Trail. The following day I was climbing the mountain and was in a 3 hour white out, high winds and several 70 foot trees fell down around me. I did the wise thing and ran off the mountain. My guide book was missing over 600 miles which included all of Massachusetts. I used 3 survival blankets with a 0 rated sleeping bag and still froze my butt off. I have learned a lot from that experience and still learning. I am hoping the Sarcoidosis will not stop me from backpacking or mountain climbing but the pulmonary doctor thinks it will since I can't do deep breathing.

I am beat tired, got little sleep last night so going to call it a night. Kaiya is already asleep.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Take care,
Kaiya and Spirit

Today I Get A New Toy and Easter Idea for Kids, Teachers, Bus Drivers

First UPS really irritated me yesterday when they did a drive by and didn't pick up the equipment to ship back to Dish TV. They are the company who broke our 2 year contract and went up on their rates $20 a month which I refuse to pay. And since UPS didn't pick up the equipment yesterday Dish billed my card early this morning for $500 for the equipment. Now how do I win this battle? I was, am, beyond aggravated. So I pouted away the morning and made a couple of things on my Zazzle shop.

This afternoon my son-in-law surprised me with a phone call, going to pick up my newest toy. A 1974 16' Wilderness Camper, yippy.
Kaiya and I are going to have a ton of fun, I can't wait. But wait.... I don't know how to use anything so I have a lot of research to do. I haven't used a camper for over 20 years and a man usually hooked everything up and I will be doing mostly boondocking. So I have to learn how to run the fridge off of electric and propane, figure out what the battery in the box next to the propane tanks are for and much more.

Today I ordered the Guide To Free Campgrounds & Overnight Parking Spots [Kindle Edition] for only $4.99.
It has a lot of helpful ideas, prices, GPS locations and much more for each state and a part of the proceeds went to Red Cross.

While doing my volunteer work yesterday for FindAGrave I tripped across a family member: Jane McLeod who was born in Scotland. I haven't found her stone yet but I have found her daughter, Mary Jane McCrosson, who is buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Fall River, Bristol, Massachusetts. Mary married Frank Morse Milne and his family have Borden family members living with them on and off, reason unknown. Bordens married into two of my lines.

Today I decided to make a Lazy Lion Toothbrush Holder and Soap Dispenser Set.
And that set can be found here:
http://www.zazzle.com/lazy_lion_toothbrush_holder_and_soap_dispenser_set-256161110094018530

Oh, almost forgot the Easter idea. This is beyond adorable...
And you can find info for this fun activity here:
itsallfiddlefart.blogspot.com

I have to run and care for my neighbor's two dogs.

Have a great night,
Spirit and Kaiya

Play With Photo Day and Catch Up With Twitter

My van was in the shop for half of the day for an oil and transmission fluid change so I got caught up on some stuff and then got too lazy to go out after lunch. I was so behind with email, most of it being Twitter tweets and even though I use a re-tweet program, PuzzleFlip, many don't get re-tweeted and I do it manually, so much work. I caught up with over 500 emails today and played with my photos on my shop. Before I go into that let's see what I can share with you today.

Buy using this gadget, IdeaWorks, I can now get free internet and tell Comcast to screw themselves with their $60 monthly rate. The cost just went up so I had them turn off the switch. It works ok, hangs up some but not as bad as the old days but patience is a virtue. You can buy them in many places including, shall I say it? Walmart. It has a pretty good overall rating. It states it has a 1/2 mile range but I doubt it. They give you equipment to place it outside but states it is water resistant. So how much rain can it handle? Price range $25-$50, you can Google it. I mainly grabbed it for my camper but decided to use it within the home when Comcast increased $20.

This fuel barge was going through the Cape Cod Canal in Massachusetts. It is a wonderful spot where you can spend the entire day there and it is still free with public bathrooms, usually clean. It has a tarred path along the canal so you can roller blade, bicycle, walk, fishing (with a license), picnic, dogs are allowed. No boondocking allowed. Campground along the canal and hotel or two available. The herring will be running within days from now.

And this boat you can grab in Onset during season for a nice 3 hour trip, $15-$20 per person, and they will give you history of different areas along the canal. At night it is a party boat, dancing, singing, lot's of fun. I don't know how much they charge for fun time.

Here is one of my newest pieces I have created. I love the colors. It can be found here:
http://www.zazzle.com/kaleidoscope_art_toothbrush_holder_soap_dispenser-256594526351567097

And if you are trying to save some money or trying to figure out healthier ways to do things this is something I have recently tried, Homemade Liquid Laundry Detergent. I can not believe how much cheaper it is. I made 5 bottles and it is only costing me pennies per load. I wondered how well it was really cleaning my clothes and the other day after Kaiya and I did some unsuspecting bushwhacking in the woods and I came out with my light grey cotton pants that now were covered in dirt and green from leaves I tossed them in the cold water wash quick wash and they were spotless. I was amazed. But when the instructions state grind the bar soap very fine it is no joke. I used my food processor grinder and thought that would be good enough, not. You can cook all day long and it will not melt. After I made the entire concoction I ended up putting it back into the processor and whipped it well. Now the only problem I have is I added to much baking soda or washing soda so I do have some residue. I don't dry my clothes so I don't know if it would come off in the dryer. I scented it with a bottle of Vanilla Lavender Oil, yummy. Here is the link to make your detergent:
turninggreensavinggreen.blogspot.com

And her is Kaiya in Barnstable, Massachusetts. She isn't thrilled with the water too much but loves running around on the beach and stinky marsh.

Hope you all have a great day

Until later

Today, April 1st, is the first day of my blog.

My pup, Kaiya, and I go out often to many different places within the United States and wanted to share a little with you.

We love the woods and the many scents and sounds. Birds are singing, bubbling creeks, coyote snapping twigs as we are followed. With April now approaching we are starting to see new growth beginning. The deer no longer have to chew on bark for food from the harsh winter.

We have slowed down some as I became ill feeling 3 months ago and my Chest CT's haven't been the best, my lungs are sick, but it doesn't stop us.

Since I had to see pulmonary yesterday we decided to take a drive to Battleship Cove in Fall River, Massachusetts. It rained/sleeted and snowed all day long. Good 20 mph winds with stronger gusts but we was dressed for it.
Today my lungs are tuckered after the PFT yesterday, a breathing study, so I am busy on one of my shops, zazzle.com/capecodgiftshop and placing my images on some new and wonderful products such as a night light, photo easels and many more items. Looks like another day of rain/snow.

I sure hope you enjoyed this note. We have so much to share.

Have a wonderful April Fool's Day and hope you are not pranked on too harshly.
