This area had the largest Revolutionary War Battle where the British burned down every building for miles.
I don't know why I haven't thought about snooping around this area earlier for anything a soldier may have left behind, coins, guns, knives, bullets. While walking by it for a second time yesterday a woman was peeking through the fence at the area and I told her I was busting in and she followed. She was wondering if she could find evidence of an Indian Burial Ground since she did find one that butts this property in the past when it was dug up and a community was built on top of it.
The burial ground was located where you see the buildings in Acushnet, Massachusetts.
Yesterday she found an old soda bottle and I found one, a little newer. The company was located in New Bedford, Massachusetts, a city that butts Acushnet. I also found a bottle that use to hold a poison of some type. I haven't had time to research it yet.
Today I didn't find anything but a couple interesting rocks but she found an old barrel and tip of a hand gun with a bullet in it, very rusty, and a horseshoe in the river so she had a great day.
This area was all trees. It will now be a man made pond with mini islands.
A section of an old road. It has been broken up a couple of times since private homes was built on it so it is very hard to follow and at least one home owner can be a bit grumpy.
Many different birds and ducks were having dinner including a pretty egret. I was then sorry I didn't have my other camera.
This is the best section of Acushnet River. The water has more force here. Down lower industries ruined it with highly toxic garbage dumped into it daily and it was brought to the inlet of Buzzard's Bay. They have been digging the inlet for years but I don't know how they will ever get the PCP's out of the ocean's bottom. The mills were fined millions of dollars and most are now closed down.
So this is what Kaiya and I have been doing for 2 days. We are tired, sore and very happy even though I hoped to find a bullet and didn't.
